- Puerto Rico has adopted comprehensive energy reform to shift away from oil toward cleaner, safer, healthier alternatives like natural gas and renewables like solar and wind.
- New energy reform laws commit the government to ambitious new targets for power generation through renewable and alternate sources: 12% by 2015, 15% by 2020 and 20% by 2035.
- Through the Via Verde project, Puerto Rico will shift from oil dependence to using natural gas for 71% of our energy needs, which will dramatically cut emissions and costs to businesses and individuals.
