“Every day that passes without solving the problems afflicting our educational system is another day we are robbing from the future of our children.”
~Governor Luis Fortuño
Education is the key to preparing our children to lead and compete in the 21st century. There is no greater gift than sharing our values and our knowledge with the next generation. Unfortunately, right now America’s education system is not performing the way it should.
For too many years, Puerto Rico neglected its schools, forcing us to lag behind in an increasingly competitive world. This must change. In order to create a system that is more accountable and one that is better able to prepare our students to succeed in a global economy, we must reform the system. Securing additional federal assistance to improve education in Puerto Rico—at the primary, secondary and post-secondary levels—will play an important role in carrying out that reform.
