ABOUT PRFAA On May 12, 1945, the “Office of Puerto Rican Affairs in Washington” was established to keep leaders in our nation’s capital informed about issues of importance to the Island. In the six decades since, the agency has grown and evolved, serving as the official representative of the Government of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico before federal, state and local governments. Yet the Puerto Rico Federal Affairs Administration (PRFAA), as it has been known since 1979, has maintained its original mission of acting as the essential bridge between Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C. Click Here to read amended Law Number 77 of June 19, 1979, which created the Puerto Rico Federal Affairs Administration (PRFAA)
PRFAA continues to speak on behalf of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico itself. PRFAA also provides assistance to the Resident Commissioner, who is elected every four years to represent the people of Puerto Rico in Congress.
