The Puerto Rico Federal Affairs Administration represents the Government of Puerto Rico before federal, state, and local governments, promotes Governor Fortuño’s public policy initiatives to achieve a better quality of life for the four million U.S. citizens of Puerto Rico, and advises local government agencies and municipalities on issues of interest to Puerto Rico before the federal government. MEET THE GOVERNOR

Governor Fortuño’s top priority has been to tackle the island’s deep economic recession, which preceded the recession on the U.S. mainland by three years. Fortuño is working to revitalize Puerto Rico’s economy by putting the government’s fiscal house in order, spurring private sector growth and pushing forward infrastructure projects that support economic development. More


ABOUT PUERTO RICO

Puerto Rico’s lone star flag symbolizes the island known as “The Shining Star of the Caribbean.”  Interestingly, Puerto Rico’s flag was literally “Made in the USA” – designed in New York City by Puerto Rican patriots in collaboration with their Cuban counterparts.  In 1895, the exiled leaders of Spain’s last two colonies in the Americas agreed that Puerto Rico’s flag would use the same design as the Cuban flag, but with inverse colors. More
